Technical Details of All Pumping Plant Installed and In Operation in 1921

A 295 page document was compiled in 1921 summarizing the technical details of all pumping plant then in service. The document has been scanned and the contents arranged on a station by station basis.

ASHWOOD PS A borehole source station located in Lower Ashwood Lane, Kingswinford, supplying a service reservoir at  Springsmire in Dudley. Station electrified 1960 and is still operational.
BOURNE VALE PS A well / borehole source station located on the A452 Chester Road between Aldridge and Streetly supplying the Barr Beacon service reservoirs. Electrified in 1935 and is still operational
BRINDLEY BANK PS A borehole source station located on Wolesley Road in Rugeley which formerly supplemented supplies to the Rugeley zone. No longer in service as a potable water source but occasionally brought into service to provide additional raw water to Blithfield reservoir. Electrified in 1969.
CAWNEY HILL PS A re-pumping (booster) station adjacent to the Cawney Hill servide reservoirs on Hilltop Road, Dudley which formerly supplied Turners Hill Water Tower (now demolished) but remains in service as a district booster. Electrified and relocated in 1938.
CONEYGRE PS A re- pumping station in Park Lane West, Tipton supplying the Cawney Hill Reservoirs. Electrified in 1937 and is still in service.
FRADLEY PS A well / borehole source station located in Brookhay Lane, Fradley supplying Outwoods Reservoir in Burton upon Trent. Electrified in 1952 and is still in service.
HINKSFORD PS A well / borehole source station located off the Swindon Road near Kingswinford, formerly supplied Springsmire Reservoir in Dudley but now pumps to Sedgley Beacon Reservoir. Electrified in 1950 and is still in service.
HUNTINGTON PS A well / borehole source station formerly located on the Stafford Road north of Cannock. Originally supplied Scout House Reservoir at Hednesford and latterly pumped to Gentleshaw Reservoir. Electrified in 1936. Taken out of service in 1980 and demolished the following year.
MAPLEBROOK PS A borehole source station located on Lower Lane, near Chorley. Originally supplied Scout House Reservoir at Hednesford and latterly pumped to Gentleshaw Reservoir. Electrified in 1973 and is still in service.
MOORS GORSE PS A well / borehole source station located on the A460 Rugeley Road north of Cannock. Originally supplied Scout House Reservoir at Hednesford and now pumps to Gentleshaw Reservoir. Electrified in 1955 and is still operational..
PIPE HILL PS A borehole source station located on the A461 Walsall Road south of Lichfield supplying Shire Oak Reservoir (until 1938) and the Barr Beacon service reservoirs. Electrified in 1970 and is still operational
ROMSLEY PS A re-pumping station located on Bromsgrove Road, Hunnington which formerly supplied a tank in Farley Road, Romsley which was later replaced by a ferro concrete water tower. Electrified in 1931 and is still in service.
SANDFIELDS PS A source pumping station / treatment works located on Chesterfield Road, Lichfield which formerly supplied service reservoirs in Walsall (until 1971), Wednesbury (until 1971), Burton upon Trent and Tamworth. Electrified in 1969. Taken out of service in 1997 and sold to a housing developer in 2004.
SHAVERS END PS A re-pumping station located alongside Shavers End Nr. 1 Reservoir in Limepit Lane, Dudley supplying Sedgley Reservoir. Electrified in 1924, site completely redeveloped in the 1990s and remains in service.
SHENSTONE PS A well / borehole source station located on Lynn Lane, Shenstone supplying Shire Oak Reservoir (until 1938) and the Barr Beacon service reservoirs. Electrified in 1957 and is still operational
SPRINGSMIRE PS A re-pumping station located alongside Springsmire Reservoir in Bull Street, Dudley supplying the Shavers End service reservoirs. Electrified in 1937 and is still operational.
TRENT VALLEY PS A borehole source station located on the Old Burton Road, Lichfield supplying service reservoirs in Walsall (until 1971), Wednesbury (until 1971), Burton upon Trent and Tamworth. Electrified in 1959 and is still in service.
WINSHILL PS A re-pumping station off the A511 Ashby Road, Burton upon Trent which formerly supplied Winshill Water Tower (now out of service).
WOOD GREEN PS A re-pumping station in Brunswick Park Road, Wednesbury which formerly supplied Tipton & Dudley zones. Electrified in 1920. Taken out of service in 1975 and site sold to developer in 1980.
